Baby Girl Baptism Cake

I really had fun with this cake... I love the white and light pink theme. And the butterflies. And the ruffles. And the little girl... ooooh she is so stinking adorable! Oh, and the fact that they call my cakes "Trouble Maker Cakes"! That pretty much rules. :) This little girl is going to have 2 big brother body guards, so those future boyfriends better watch their backs!

This is a white cake with buttercream frosting. The accents are both fondant and buttercream, and of course the butterflies need to sparkle, so I sprinkled them with a little shimmer dust.

Olympic swimming cake

My oldest just turned ten. He's quite the little gentleman, but ouch for me. I am old enough to have a ten year old. I remember MYSELF being ten and feel like it was just yesterday. He is so into swimming right now so he wanted this cake for his big 10th birthday!

The round cake on top is banana cream with banana cream filling, frosted in buttercream and covered in fondant. The bottom cake is chocolate with cookies and cream filling, frosted with buttercream and then covered in fondant.

Who knows, maybe in 8 years, I will be making him one for his first Olympic gold ;)

Mine Craft Creeper Cake

So to be totally honest, when Lisa asked if I would do a Mine Craft Creeper cake, I tilted my head to the side like a confused puppy... or like I was trying to figure out what the adults on Charlie Brown are really saying, and I may have even stared off into space with my mouth hanging wide open like Patrick Star because I had no idea what this video game is all about!  BUT, I am always up for a challenge- so I googled it and and tried to educate myself on it...and may have even tried to play the game so I could make the cake just right. (Roughest part of my job, right?)
I was surprised it was just a green dude with a frown. Totally do-able. (Did I ever tell you how much I REALLY dislike that word "Do-Able"... I don't know why I keep saying it. Here's the cake before I drive myself nuts...

Tinkerbell cake

I love Tinkerbell. She is sassy and feisty, but sweet and adorable. And I love the little girl who wanted this cake... (who is not sassy or feisty at all- but is very sweet and adorable.)  :)

The cake is white with buttercream frosting. The inside of the cake is frosted with a different color in between layers, so when it was cut, there was a layer of green, yellow, and pink frosting separating the layers.

Snow White # 2

I had a little friend from down the street come over to tell me all about her birthday cake. I just happened to have the other Snow White cake done and ready, so when she saw it... Cinderella went away and Snow White was her new dream come true. :)

Snow White

This Snow White cake was so much fun. It was a yellow cake, with chocolate filling and buttercream frosting. It brought me back to being a little girl and loving the Disney princesses. Oh who am I kidding... I have never stopped loving them like a little girl. No one says you HAVE to grow up in every way :)

Wilton yearbook Demo Cake

I did this cake for the Wilton Yearbook launch at Micheal's. There was a little girl and her mom there to watch from beginning to end, and so I let her help out with the design and decorating too. I think she did a great job! :)

Army Tank

This is my cake replica of a 10 year old's drawing. I had a picture drawn by the birthday boy of what he wanted his cake to look like. There is something about this age group that I just love (Maybe that my oldest is turning 10?? I don't know. They are still kids, but almost teens. They are so funny at this age!)
Happy birthday to Noah!

A favorite place for a favorite person

Today is my Mother-in-Law's birthday. And I am so lucky to have her in my life, and as the Grandma to our boys... and she raised a pretty studly gentleman of her own if I do say so myself! :) So when I say that she is one of my favorite people... I mean that with my whole entire heart! Split Rock Lighthouse is one of my favorite places in the world- there is something really magical, majestic, mysterious and almost haunting about the place... (insert your own favorite adjective there!)... The birthday girl loves lighthouses, so I thought I would give this a whirl!

The cake is lemon poppy seed with a whipped lemon frosting. The lighthouse is molded out of fondant and so are the rocks. I have thought about this cake for almost 2 years... I am so glad to have finally made it! ;)

Turning one rocks!

What a cool theme for a 1st birthday party! Who doesn't love rock music, guitars, and drums?

The guitar is a yellow cake with buttercream frosting. It was airbrushed to be black, and the accessories are made out of fondant. The neck is a big huge Rice Krispy bar covered in buttercream.

The drum is a chocolate cake with white buttercream frosting and airbrushed to be red. The details on the drum are also fondant.

Doing this cake for Landon makes me feel OLD! When I was having my own babies, his Mama was the age that my kids are right now. I don't "feel" any older, does that mean anything?? Didn't think so. Hmph.

Gerbera Daisy Graduation Cake

Last weekend I made this cake for a graduation party. It is a marble cake, with french vanilla filling and buttercream frosting. The daisy's are made out of a fondant/ gumpaste mixture and sprinkled with a little of Wilton's shimmer dust. It is always SO hard to make these cakes, and not give them to people with the first slice already missing! ;) Maybe that could be my trademark??

Here a dot, there a dot.... everywhere a dot, dot!

Wow... wrapping up my 2 week baking frenzy, along with the posting frenzy to go along with it! The last (but not least!) cake for the weekend is a polka dot cake for a sweet and adorable little one year old. :) The cake is white with buttercream frosting and covered in fondant. The smash cake is made out of whip cream and then I added fondant circle decorations. I love the colors they chose for the party-- it made for a fun birthday cake! :)

Mickey Mouse Cake

I love Disney, and Mickey Mouse, so when I got to make a Mickey cake, I was giddy! The cake is yellow, and it has a chocolate filling, and is covered in buttercream that has been tinted and "drawn" on the cake. I love the challenge each cake brings and this one was a new one, having the details be in frosting rather than fondant! I had a blast each step of the way with this one, and still have the song stuck in my brain... :)

Twilight

My niece Haylee wanted a Twilight cake for her birthday and I was excited to make it for her! I ran out of time to add every detail I had planned, but it was a super fun cake for me to make for her! :)

Spa-ahhhh

I made this cake last weekend for our niece, Rayna. It is a chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting/filling covered in fondant. The jewels on the cake go along with a necklace we gave her  and she can change them out depending on which one she feels like wearing. This was a fun cake to make!

If nautical nonsense be something you wish...

Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish! Here is a Sponge Bob and Patrick cake from last weekend! The Patrick cake is white, with strawberry filling and covered in buttercream frosting... then covered and decorated with fondant. Sponge Bob is a marble cake with buttercream filling and frosting, then covered with fondant too! The cake board was airbrushed because I think park of the fun of a custom cake is having a snazzy board to go along with it. :)

It's not all about the cake, man

Don't you forget that. Not a huge fan of cake? Don't fret... don't feel left out. You can still enjoy super fun, and personalized treats just like your cake loving friends. Cookies are fun and tasty too, right? And hey, fewer dishes, less mess... why does cake get all the glory?

You can spell out messages... Happy Birthday! Congratulations! Will you marry me?

Unicorns, Butterflies, and Rainbows, Oh My!

What a fun cake... it kind of makes me smile in the pit of my stomach... which is usually not a place you hear of people smiling. THAT my friends, is how happy this cake makes me feel- like a carefree, happy little girl, who's heart is filled with sunshine and butterflies, rainbows, unicorns, and flowers. Geesh. Gush gush! The filling was a nice surprise, too. It's my newest filling... rainbow! ;)

How can you NOT smile?? (If you haven't seen the ceiling in my scrapbook room,  you'd laugh because it is a pastel version of this cake filling. True story.)

What is on the other side of the rainbow? Why unicorns, and pure joy. That's what.

I might just be addicted to making little "things" for the tops of cakes. It is just waaayy too fun. :)

The end. ;)
